Access requirements

To establish the access conditions and admission criteria for the master's degree, the rule established in article 18 of Royal Decree 822/2021 that regulates the organization of university courses and the quality assurance procedure has been taken into account, as well as the one established in the second section of the fourth final provision of Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, of the University System that modifies Law 33/2011, of October 4, General Public Health:

  1. a) The Degree in Psychology, which will not qualify in its own to the exercise of psychology in the health sector, will constitute a necessary access requirement to the Master's in General Health Psychology, as well as any other official foreign university degree in Psychology (information in Spanish) that complies with the requirements established in Order CNU/1309/2018, of December 5, which regulates the general conditions to which the Degree study plans must be adjusted in Psychology, in particular as regards the compulsory subjects linked to Health Psychology.

The order ECD/1070/2013 which establishes the requirements for the verification of the official university degrees of Master in General Health Psychology requires the possession of the degree of Bachelor/Graduate in Psychology together, if the case arises, with complementary training which guarantees that the interested party has obtained at least 90 ECTS of a specifically health-related nature.

Regarding the recognition of these 90 ECTS of complementary training referred to in the previous paragraph, it will be necessary for the applicant to present supporting documentation of this requirement.

In accordance with order ECD/1070/2013, the criteria for validating the 90 health credits prior to completing the Master's will be as follows:

For Psychology graduates, the following will be validated as health related credits:

  • Basic subjects of the Health Sciences branch.
  • Subjects related to Personality, Psychological Assessment and Treatment, and Psychobiology.
  • Itineraries, mentions or optional subjects qualified for their connection to Clinical or Health Psychology.
  • Practicum when appropriate.
  • TFG carried out in the field of Clinical or Health Psychology.
  • Subjects linked to Psychological Processes and Methodology leading to acquire skills prior to or complementary to those defined in section 2b of the Annex to order ECD/1070/2013, of 12 June.

For former Psychology graduates, the following will be validated as health credits:

  • Subjects related to Personality, Psychological Assessment and Treatment, and Psychobiology.
  • Specialties, itineraries, intracurricular options or optional subjects in Clinical or Health Psychology.
  • Practicum when appropriate.
  • Subjects linked to Psychological Processes and Methodology leading to acquire skills prior to or complementary to those defined in section 2b of the Annex to order ECD/1070/2013, of 12 June.

In addition, complementary training credits obtained in postgraduate training that meet the requirements established in Law 5/2011, of 29 March, on Social Economy, may be considered as health credits.

Admission criteria

In the case that the demand exceeds the number of available places, the following priority criteria will be used among the applicants who meet the admission requirements at the moment of requesting their admission:

  1. Academic record, up to 4 points: pass (1p), good (2p), merit (3p), distinction (4p)
  2. Specific studies (with the exception of what is requested for access), up to 2 points: postgraduate studies related to Health Sciences, up to 30 ECTS (1p); postgraduate studies related to Health Sciences, over 30 ECTS (2p)
  3. Certified professional experience, up to 2 points: between 1 and 3 years (1p), more than 3 years (2p)
  4. Knowledge of a foreign language at B2 level or higher: up to 1 point
  5. Other merits (publications, teaching collaborations, etc.): up to 1 point

Students will have to submit certified documentation of these merits.

It will be the responsibility of the Master’s Studies Commission to inform about the validity and sufficiency of the abovementioned studies. In the case that the 90 health credits requested to access the Master’s Degree studies are not certified, the applicants will not be able to complete the registration.

The Master’s Studies Commission will provide applicants with information about the complementary courses they need to take, in order to be accepted in a future edition of these studies.

The final selection of students will be the responsibility of the Master’s Studies Commission.
